“My work philosophy has always been underpinned by two things, do a good job and look after the customer.”
The electrical power supply must be surgically orchestrated to ensure major infrastructure works can be staged seamlessly. I encourage all our engineers to approach engineering with a critical eye, to gain practical experience and challenge the integrity of the design by visualizing the process.
We have built a balanced in-house team and developed relationships across the supply chain from the suppliers through to the building contractors to ensure everyone understands the context of the brief and the design intent as well as the constructability.
Over the years I have specialized in the planning and design of main switchboard replacements, bypass systems, transferring circuits and critical power systems. Communications, Lighting and Control systems have got a lot smarter and continue to drive innovation.
With over 35 years of experience as an electrical engineer, Lou provides his clients with practical guidance to ensure each design aligns with the construction methodology. Working as a core member of multi-discipline design teams, he is quickly able to grasp the big picture and provide leadership to de-risk complex projects.
Lou’s personable leadership style adds stability to the planning and project management process. As Leader of the ACOR Rudds electrical design team, he provides mentoring to a team of over 20 engineers. His specialist expertise includes:
- Critical power systems including uninterrupted power and emergency backup power supplies
- Electrical control and energy management systems including power factor correction, data and communications cabling (secure and non-secure)
- Smoke detection and alarm systems
- Lightning protection and earthing
- Lighting design including emergency evacuation lighting and lighting controls
- External lighting for footpaths, car parks, street lighting, airport aprons and floodlighting.
